Mr. Günter Butschek, Chief Operating Officer of Airbus S. A. S., Toulouse spoke on the topic "Airbus - growth is not a luxury problem!".

Founded in 1967, the company, a subsidiary of EADS, is the largest European aircraft manufacturer. The assembly plants are located in France, Germany, the UK and Spain. With 59,000 employees worldwide, the company generated a turnover of 38.6 billion euros in 2012. Airbus produces passenger aircraft, business jets, cargo planes and military aircraft. A total of 14 types of aircraft for up to 525 passengers are produced.

Günter Butschek was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Airbus S. A. S. on June 1, 2012. In this role, he has overall responsibility for Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Quality and Information Technology. Günter Butschek joined Airbus S. A. S. in March 2011 as Head of Operations and member of the Management Board. He also became Chairman of the Management Board of Airbus in Germany (Airbus Operations GmbH) and retains the associated responsibilities in his new management role as COO. He remains a member of the Executive Committee.

Günter Butschek began his career in 1984 at Mercedes-Benz AG in Stuttgart as Project Engineer Central Materials Management. After holding various positions in logistics, human resources and purchasing at Mercedes-Benz Cars, he was appointed to the Management Board of DaimlerChrysler South Africa in 2000 with responsibility for production. In 2002, Günter Butschek moved to Netherlands Car B.V., a contract manufacturer in the global production network of DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, as President and CEO. From 2005, he served as President and CEO of Beijing-Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. in China.
