Dr. Wolfgang A. Schumann

Dr. Wolfgang A. Schumann, Managing Director of Rudolf GmbHspoke about the opportunities and challenges of raw material supply from the perspective of an international chemical company in his presentation "Secure raw material supply for an international chemical company".

Rudolf Chemie was founded in 1922 by the chemical engineer Reinhold Rudolf in Warnsdorf in northern Bohemia as a service-oriented supplier for all areas of the textile chain. As early as the 1960s, the company began to position itself worldwide and expand its product range. The company is now active in the field of textile auxiliaries and specialty chemicals and manufactures over 350 intermediate and end products at its main production site in Geretsried alone, using state-of-the-art ecological production methods. The company is now represented on all continents in order to optimally serve local customers. Furthermore, Rudolf Chemie was awarded the Bavarian State Prize for Renewable Raw Materials in 2007 due to its successful developments in the ecological sector, which underlines the high innovative strength of the medium-sized company.

Dr. Schumann studied business administration in the Swiss city of Fribourg and subsequently obtained his doctorate in Passau. After completing his doctorate, he was assistant to the group management and BU controller at Clariant and at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Transaction Services division. Dr. Schumann then took over the management of Rudolf GmbH, which he now successfully manages in the third generation alongside his brother and father.

In his contribution to the 19th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr. Wolfgang Schumann will speak about the importance of the secure provision of resources for chemical companies. He will present this from the perspective of a medium-sized German company with a global presence, focusing in particular on the aspects of the chemical industry.
