Dr. Richard Hausmann, CEO Siemens North East Asia, CEO & President Siemens Ltd., China, presents "Opportunities and risks of China for the German economy - some thoughts from 'outside'".
Siemens Ltd., China was founded in 1994 and is based on a long tradition of Siemens in this country Siemens exported the first pointer telegraphs to China in 1872 and has had a permanent branch in China since 1904. Today, Siemens is active in three sectors: Industry, Energy and Healthcare. With more than 40,000 employees and a turnover of 53.3 billion RMB (approx. 5.7 billion EUR) in fiscal year 2007, Siemens is one of the largest foreign-funded employers in China. 90 branches and 60 regional offices ensure close proximity to customers in this large country.
Dr. Richard Hausmann has been CEO & President of Siemens Ltd, China since 2005 and is responsible for all Siemens activities in this country. Since 2008, as CEO of Siemens North East Asia, he has also assumed responsibility for China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Mongolia. After completing his studies and doctorate in physics, he joined Siemens AG in 1988 and has since held various positions in the Medical Solutions division. In numerous other functions, e.g. as Chairman of the German Chamber of Commerce in Beijing and as a government advisor, Dr. Hausmann is committed to China's economic development and relations with German companies and helps to shape the economic environment in this region. As an honorary professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, he lectures at numerous Chinese universities.
In his presentation, Dr. Hausmann will explain the challenges facing the German economy in China. His diverse activities and many years of international experience make for an interesting presentation at the Munich Management Forum.
