Dr. Klaus-Dieter Maubach

Dr. Klaus-Dieter Maubach, Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON Energie AG, Munich spoke in his presentation on "Profitable growth in Eastern Europe". E.ON Energie AG is one of the leading companies in the field of electricity generation and marketing.

E.ON Energie is a multinational company with decentralized structures that do justice to the regional differences in the European energy market. E.ON Energie AG's focus is on the countries of Central Europe, especially where electricity is supplied through neighboring grids. In addition to Germany, the main focus regions are Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary as well as the Benelux countries, Austria and Switzerland. In Germany, the market presence is visible from the Danish border to the south of Bavaria through seven independently operating regional supply companies with their customer-oriented energy services. As part of the E.ON Group's largest investment program, E.ON Energie is investing around â'¬12 billion in power generation. These investments are intended to help secure the long-term supply of electricity while at the same time promoting greater climate and environmental compatibility. Investments will focus on ultra-modern coal-fired power plants, which will set new standards in climate protection with unprecedented levels of efficiency, particularly efficient gas-fired power plants and renewable energies.

After studying electrical engineering and completing his doctorate at the University of Wuppertal, Dr. Maubach took on various roles at regional energy suppliers. In 1998, he was appointed technical managing director and, from 2000, chairman of the management board of Elektrizitätswerk Wesertal GmbH, Hameln. From 2001 to 2006, Dr. Maulbach was responsible for grid operations electricity and gas at Avacon AG, Helmstedt. In 2006, Dr. Maulbach was appointed to the Management Board of E.ON Energie AG, Munich, with responsibility for the Grids and Regulation division, and has been a member of this board since April 2007.
