Dr. Karsten Ottenberg, Chairman of the Management Board of Giesecke & Devrient GmbH will talk about the direction and success factors of managing a modern family business in his presentation "Trust, innovation and customer proximity as strategic cornerstones of corporate development".

Dr. Karsten Ottenberg has been CEO of Giesecke & Devrient since 2005. After a career in R&D, marketing and sales at the Philips Group, culminating in the management of the semiconductor business unit for chip card and RFID applications and, from 2003 to 2005, head of marketing and global sales in the consumer and multimedia area of the semiconductor division, he took over as CEO of Giesecke & Devrient on April 1, 2005, a family-owned company that remains independent to this day and is a guarantee of solidity and reliability like no other. After all, banknotes, bank and credit cards, ID cards, health cards and much more are developed and produced here to the highest security standards. Since its foundation in 1852, the Munich-based company has developed into an international technology group with over 8,000 employees worldwide and a total turnover of 1.3 billion euros, leading in the fields of banknote printing and processing, security papers, smart cards and system solutions for telecommunications, electronic payment transactions, transportation, healthcare, personal identification, customer loyalty, pay TV, multimedia and Internet security (public key infrastructure).

In his contribution to the 16th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr. Karsten Ottenberg will discuss how trust, innovation and customer proximity as strategic cornerstones are of great importance for companies with an international clientele and production sites and lead to core competencies. They make it possible to secure sustainable growth and expand market positions. He will present some concepts and experiences of how Giesecke & Devrient succeeds in building trust, which includes, for example, the production of means of payment, the establishment of access systems or even the most intimate data storage (health card) and thus makes it possible to constantly open up new business areas while always keeping the entrepreneur in the company in mind.
