Dr. Joachim Belz, Member and Spokesman of the Management Board of Weidmüller AG in Detmoldspoke in his presentation "Innovations in times of crisis" about how the upcoming challenges of the economic crisis of a German industrial company can be overcome through successful innovation management.
Weidmüller, founded in 1850 as a company in the textile industry and relaunched as C. A. Weidmüller in Detmold in 1948, is today successfully and permanently positioned worldwide as a leading provider of solutions for the electrical connection, transmission and conditioning of energy, signals and data in industrial environments. The company develops, produces and sells products for electrical connection technology and electronics. As a group of companies, Weidmüller has a strong international focus and has its own production facilities, sales companies and agencies in more than 70 countries. In the 2008 financial year, Weidmüller achieved a turnover of 533 million euros and employed 3,900 people worldwide.
Dr. Joachim Belz (born 1957) began his career in 1987 at the Fraunhofer Society for Applied Research. Dr. Belz gained experience in product management, marketing and sales at MicroParts Gesellschaft für Mikrostrukturtechnik and Omron Electronics GmbH, where he was a member of the management board. From 1997, he was Managing Director of Harting Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG and in 2003 he was appointed to the Management Board of Harting Führungs-AG as Director of New Technologies. In 2006, Dr. Belz moved to Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. KG and was appointed to the Executive Board of the Weidmüller Group in November 2006. He is responsible for strategy, development and business areas. Since May 2007, Dr. Belz has also assumed the function of Spokesman of the Executive Board.
