LEONI AG (Nuremberg) is one of the world's leading companies in the wire and cable industry. 29,957 employees develop and manufacture wires and strands, cables and conductors as well as wiring systems for the automotive industry. The Group has a total of around 60 subsidiaries worldwide. Since January 2005, the operating business has been handled by the two divisions Wire & Cable and Wiring Systems. The product range includes wires and strands for cables, electrical, electronic and electromechanical components as well as cables and wiring systems for the automotive industry. In the 2004 financial year, sales amounted to EUR 1.247 billion and net income after taxes to EUR 33.2 million.

Following his studies in chemistry and his doctorate in engineering at the University of Erlangen, Dr. Klaus Probst initially worked as a planning engineer in 1980 and later as head of department in the power plant industry. In 1989 he joined LEONI AG and took over the management of the Roth plant. There he introduced the concept of group work, made working hours more flexible and was responsible for quality certifications. In 1997, he was appointed to the Board of Directors, where he assumed responsibility for the Wire & Cable Division. Dr. Klaus Probst has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of LEONI AG since July 2002.
