biography

In his presentation "Technical competence and geographical presence", Dr. Ernst ROTHSTEIN spoke about ways and strategies to increase the value of the turbomachinery manufacturer Leistritz.

 

The over 100-year history of Leistritz AG is based on the foundations of tradition and progress. The high-tech company is regarded as a prime example of German engineering and can point not only to a long history, but also to solid experience and healthy growth over the decades. Leistritz AG is regarded as an innovative partner to the aerospace, energy technology, shipbuilding and mechanical engineering industries, as well as the plastics and automotive industries. Since 2001, Leistritz AG has been organized as a group holding company with 11 subsidiaries and generates sales of 160 million euros (2004) with approx. 2,000 group employees. The core competence of Leistritz AG is the production and worldwide distribution of:

  • Blades and components for steam turbines and gas turbines,
  • axial compressors and jet engines, machines of all kinds, in particular positive displacement pumps, screw pumps, screw presses and extrusion systems for plastics processing,
  • Hydraulic systems,
  • Pressed, punched and drawn parts,
  • carbide tools and machine tools.

After studying mechanical engineering and completing his doctorate at the TH Aachen, Dr. Rothstein began his professional career at Mannesmann Demag AG. After managing several departments, he was given overall technical responsibility in 1990. In 1994, he was appointed to the Management Board with responsibility for technology. In 1995, he was involved in the takeover of IMO-Deval and became a member of the Group Management Board of Demag Deval Turbomachinery in 1997. From 2001 to 2002, he was Managing Director of Demag Deval Verwaltungs-GmbH and Head of the Process Compression division. Since 2002 he has been a member of the Management Board of Leistritz AG, Nuremberg.

In his contribution to the 14th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr. Rothstein will explain how Leistritz AG has succeeded in constantly occupying new application areas in the field of fluid technology through the continuous further development of its basic products, which has enabled the company to achieve continuous growth.
