Dr. Francesca Colombo, General Director and Artistic Director at the international music festival MITO SettembreMusica, Milan spoke on the topic of "Innovation and management in cultural institutions: new processes, quality and value vs. cost optimization using the examples of the Florence State Opera and the MITO SettembreMusica music festival"

The MITO SettembreMusica music festival emerged from the Torino SettembreMusica festival in 2007. Every year in September, a cross-genre program ranging from classical music to rock, jazz and pop, from early music to innovative avant-garde projects is offered in the two cities of Milan and Turin. The program is complemented by film projections, exhibitions, children's concerts and conferences. Internationally renowned orchestras, soloists and ensembles perform at the festival. In 2013, over 120,000 spectators attended the 200 events with a total of 2,900 artists over 18 days.

Dr. Francesca Colombo has been General Director and Artistic Director of MITO SettembreMusica since 2007. From 2010 to February 2013, she was also the youngest Italian artistic director at the State Opera in Florence, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. There she carried out a structural reorganization to increase the number of performances, international tours and educational projects.

She previously worked at Teatro alla Scala in Milan from 1997 to 2010 in various departments: Human Resources, IT, Organizational Development Department, Marketing, General Management. Since 2006 she was responsible for international co-productions. From 1997 to 2007, Dr. Colombo also worked as a management consultant for artistic and organizational projects at the School of Music in Milan.
