Dr. Dietrich Gemmel

Dr. Dietrich Gemmel, Head of B2C Germany at innogy SE, spoke on the topic "From electricity provider to impulse generator - 'out of the box' instead of black box".

innogy SE is a subsidiary of the energy utility RWE with the aim of pooling its activities in the field of renewable energies. In addition to responsibility for RWE's electricity grids and sales divisions, innogy SE also includes wind energy with onshore and offshore plants, primarily in the North and Baltic Seas, as well as hydropower and bioenergy. The name innogy combines the company's guiding principles of innovation and energy. The company's activities are focused on Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Poland. innogy shares have been traded on the stock exchange since October 7, 2016.

Dr. Dietrich Gemmel studied mining and business administration at RWTH Aachen University. After graduating with a degree in engineering and economics, he completed a doctorate in process engineering. Dr. Gemmel began his professional career in corporate development at Thyssen Handelsunion AG, Düsseldorf, with a focus on M&A projects. In 1993, he moved to the telecommunications industry. There he was initially Head of Corporate Development/Regulation at E-Plus-Mobilfunk GmbH, Düsseldorf, and from 1997 Managing Director of E-Plus-Service GmbH, Potsdam. His responsibilities included customer loyalty management, call centers and sales management/service. In 2000, he moved to the Management Board of debitel AG, Stuttgart, and assumed responsibility for Operations. He entered the energy industry in 2005 as Head of Sales Management at RWE-Energy AG. His field of activity included the development of the RWE Group's sales strategy for continental Europe as well as the management and implementation of group-wide sales projects. Dr. Gemmel has been Managing Director of eprimo GmbH in Neu-Isenburg since June 2008 and Chairman of the Management Board since 2014. Since January 2013, he has also been Chairman of the Management Board of RWE Effizienz GmbH in Dortmund, which was transformed into RWE International SE (innogy SE as of 01.09.2016) in 2016. Today, Dr. Gemmel is Head of B2C Germany and Head of Leadership Team B2C International.
