Dr. Christian Hartel

Dr. Christian Hartel has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Wacker Chemie AG since May 2021. His areas of responsibility include the WACKER POLYSILICON and WACKER BIOSOLUTIONS divisions, as well as Corporate Development, Legal Affairs, Compliance, Corporate Auditing, Corporate Communications and Research & Development.

Christian Hartel joined Wacker Chemie in 2003 and initially worked in Corporate Development. After holding various management positions in the WACKER FINE CHEMICALS and WACKER SILICONES divisions, he was appointed head of Corporate Raw Materials Procurement in 2010. In 2012, he took over as head of the WACKER SILICONES division. Christian Hartel was appointed to WACKER's Executive Board in 2015.

Before joining WACKER, Christian Hartel worked as a senior consultant at the management consultancy Bain & Company. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in the chemical sector.

Christian Hartel studied chemistry at the University of Constance and obtained his doctorate (Dr. phil. nat.) at the Universities of Geneva and Frankfurt am Main.

Christian Hartel has been Chairman of the Board of the Bavarian Chemical Associations since July 2019, Vice President of the Bavarian Industry Association since June 2020 and Vice President of the German Chemical Industry Association since September 2023.
