Dr. Axel Deich

In his presentation "Successful marketing of space technologies for the commercial market", Dr. Axel Deich will demonstrate the importance of a successful marketing strategy for increasing the value of a company.

Contraves Space AG is an internationally recognized company for innovative solutions in space projects in the areas of subsystems for satellites and payload fairings for launch vehicles. The company emerged in 1999 from the former Space business unit of Oerlikon Contraves as a new, legally independent company. Unaxis Holding owns 100% of the shares. The company generates annual sales of around CHF 100 million and employs around 300 people, around half of whom are highly qualified engineers.

Contraves Space AG is a global leader in the manufacture of payload fairings for launch vehicles using composite technology. The company also develops and produces structures and precision mechanisms for satellites, scientific instruments for space exploration and laser terminals for optical data transmission between global telecommunications satellites. Contraves Space AG's customers include institutional institutions such as the European Space Agency (ESA) as well as commercial customers such as European and American providers of transportation services with launch vehicles.

Mr. Dr. Axel Deich holds a degree in engineering and industrial engineering. After completing his doctorate at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen, he began his professional career in the aerospace industry. From 1997, he held various management positions at EADS Space. In his last position at EADS, he managed to sustainably increase the profitability of the Propulsion and Equipment division through extensive restructuring measures. As a proven industry expert, he was appointed CEO of Contraves Space AG at the beginning of 2006.
