Dirk Große-Loheide, Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Procurement and Logisticsspoke about the importance of a global procurement strategy for the operational implementation and optimization of global procurement processes and the implications this has for corporate strategy in his presentation "Global procurement strategy as an implementation tool but also a driver for corporate strategy".

The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand is one of the world's leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles. With 488,700 vehicles delivered in 2007, the brand was able to increase its sales by 10.7% over the previous year to a new record level. In the European Economic Area, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles even reached the top of the registration statistics for the first time, with a market share of 14.6 % for light commercial vehicles. The company's strategic orientation is aimed in particular at adapting existing and new products in such a way that they form target group-oriented and suitable offerings for both the saturated automobile markets of Western Europe and the emerging markets of Eastern Europe, as well as for the dynamic and transport-oriented emerging markets.

Mr. Große-Loheide studied economics at the University of Hanover and trained as a banker at Deutsche Bank AG. Since joining Volkswagen AG in 1990, he has held various positions within the Volkswagen Group. After joining the capital goods purchasing department from 1990 to 1992, Mr. Große-Loheide worked in the procurement of logistics services in 1993. In 1994, Mr. Große-Loheide was entrusted with a task force assignment at the SEAT S.A. brand, followed by a position as Head of Procurement Marketing from 1995 to 1996. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Große-Loheide was responsible for general purchasing at the SEAT S.A. brand. In May 2000, he was appointed a member of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand's management board with responsibility for procurement and logistics. Mr. Große-Loheide has been a member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand since January 2007 and was previously responsible for Procurement and Production.

In his contribution to the 16th Munich Management Colloquium, Mr. Große-Loheide will explain the importance of a global procurement strategy for internationally operating companies. On the one hand, he will focus on the necessity of a global procurement strategy for the operational implementation and optimization of global procurement activities. In addition, Mr. Große-Loheide will discuss the implications of a global procurement strategy for the company's overall strategy.
