Detlev Kruse

Director of Finance
BVG - Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, Berlin

biography

Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe AöR (BVG) is a modern service company that meets the challenges of the future with innovative strategies and is divided into three divisions: Subway, Tram and Bus. The group of fully consolidated companies, which includes BT Berlin Transport GmbH, IOB and VVR-Berek GmbH, only includes companies in which BVG is the 100% shareholder.

In view of the threat of gridlock in the increasingly congested region, BVG, Germany's largest municipal transport company, is becoming ever more important. The company provides economic, urban and regional political, social and environmental services. The daily commitment to clean and safe vehicles and stations is one of the tasks that BVG employees have to master in addition to transporting passengers. For example, BVG buses are fueled with sulphur-free diesel and the entire bus fleet is equipped with CRT filters that prevent the emission of carbon monoxide and soot particles. With over 12,000 employees, BVG is also one of the largest employers in the region. Within a year, BVG buses and streetcars travel more than 250 million kilometers, transporting around 906 million passengers. The successful design and implementation of the requirements are the subject of Mr. Detlev Kruse's presentation at the 13th Munich Management Colloquium on March 7 and 8, 2006.

Mr. Detlev Kruse took on various project management functions in the insurance industry very early on after completing his business studies and training as a businessman. Mr. Kruse then worked as a consultant in the ICT environment before taking on line functions in the energy industry at various companies. At the age of 30, Mr. Kruse already had management responsibility as head of department and authorized signatory for IT and organization in the energy industry. Mr. Kruse has been Director of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe for 8 years and is responsible for the areas of finance and information technology. At the same time, Mr. Kruse is Managing Director of BVG Media Holding GmbH and NESKOM GmbH, a company for project planning of electrical and communications equipment. In addition, Mr. Kruse is an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the Frauenhofer Gesellschaft, Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technologies.
