Carsten Schmidt

Mr. Carsten Schmidt, Chairman of the Management Board of Sky Deutschland GmbH, spoke on the topic "Digital disruption - the future of entertainment".

Sky Deutschland GmbH is a German media group based in Unterföhring near Munich. Sky Deutschland operates a pay-TV service via its subsidiary Sky Deutschland Fernsehen GmbH & Co. KG operates a pay-TV service. Sky owns broadcasting rights in Germany and Austria, in Switzerland selected packages can be obtained via the pay-TV service Teleclub, in Luxembourg via the pay-TV services Post Luxembourg, Eltrona and Orange Luxembourg. Sky Deutschland has 4.626 million customers.

Prior to his appointment as Chairman of the Management Board Mr. Carsten Schmidt Chief Officer Sports, Advertising Sales & Internet at Sky Deutschland (since 2006) and Program Managing Director of Sky Austria. In these roles, he established Germany's only 24-hour sports news channel Sky Sport News HD, expanded relations with the DFL, opened up new business areas at marketer Sky Media Network, was responsible for Sky's online presence and launched the new website www.sky.de in 2015. Before his appointment to the management board, the business administration graduate had already worked for many years as Head of Sports for the Munich-based subscription TV channel. Prior to that, Schmidt spent four years as Managing Director of the Marketing and Television division at WIGE Media, one of the leading sports media service providers in Germany and Europe.
